Axisymmetric Coordinates

  • MOOSE supports axisymetric coordinates
    • i.e., cylindrical coordinates ($$$r$$$, $$$\theta$$$, $$$z$$$), where the problem is symmetrical in the $$$\theta$$$ direction.
  • The axis of rotation is controlled using:
[Problem]
  type = FEProblem
  coord_type = RZ
  rz_coord_axis = X
[]
  • MOOSE assumes the problem is symmetrical about specified axis and automatically applies the proper coordinate transformation

Spherical Coordinates

  • MOOSE supports symmetrical spherical coordinates
    • i.e, spherical coordinates $$$(r, \theta, \phi)$$$, where the problem is symmetrical in the $$$\theta$$$ and $$$\phi$$$ directions.
  • Enable spherical coordinates using the following input file syntax
[Problem]
  type = FEProblem
  coord_type = RSpherical
